:Hallo there. I am from South Africa and my maiden name is Van den Bergh.
My great grandfather was called "Langhans" Van den Bergh as he was a very tall man. He was apparently a general in the army at the time of the Boerewar. My grandfather (who died 3 years ago) was Gert Nicolaas Van den Bergh. Some of my father's second cousins are well-known actors here in South Africa. My grandfather was married to Bettie Smit. I hope to gain some more information on my family genealogy.
Regards
Hermien

: Two other postings so far indicate some extensive research that goes back to 1600's in Belgium (Omer and Jeroen).
: I don't know if my family is related to this "van den Bergh" family, but I would be interested to find out.
: Also, could there be any relation between the dutch "van den Bergh" and scandinavian "Bergh" families?
: Does the dutch "van den Bergh" name have anything to do with the "Den Bergh" castle in the east of The Netherlands, near 's-Herenbergh?
: Herbert.
